Griffith’s Hilary Geddes Brings Home Bold Jazz Style for First Friday Live

Griffith’s Hilary Geddes, a young multi-instrumentalist and vocalist known for her bold and
improvisational jazz style, is bringing her talents home on Friday July 3 to debut the Hilary
Geddes Trio at Bar One 88.

Hilary, who is studying at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, will be joined by fellow locals
and musicians Livio Mazzon on drums, and Bernie Gray on bass. The trio will take to the
stage at 7.30pm for a night of blues, roots, pop and jazz and some originals.

Hilary began playing guitar at the age of 6, inspired by the theatrics of AC/DC (in particular,
Angus Young). In addition to guitar, the talented artist also dabbles in bass ukulele.
Hilary said she is influenced by an array of musicians and styles, including Murray from The
Wiggles to jazz legend John Coltrane, American rhythm and blues singer and songwriter Big
Mama Thornton, to the Kooks, and Bob Marley.

“One of the highlights of my music career so far was the opportunity in January 2012 to be
part of a jazz band tour of the USA and Barbados,” Hilary said. “I played guitar in the Jazz
Workshop Australia International Big Band, which culminated in a CD recording of a variety
of jazz tunes.”

Hilary was nominated in 2009 for a Canberra Area Theatre (CAT) award for her role in
Griffith - the Musical, in which she also led the musicians and played the piano. Hilary won
Griffith's Young Musician of the Year award from the Musician’s Club in 2010.
Don’t miss your chance to see an up and coming jazz artist who hails from Griffith! Join the
Hilary Geddes Trio at First Friday Live on July 3. Tickets are $15 per person and available
